How their eyes light up
when they talk about something they love,
like little stars forgetting how to hide.
Or the way their smile moves,
soft and warm,
like sunlight slipping through the curtains.
And how one hug from them
feels like the world taking a deep breath.
I notice the way their face changes
when they’re lost in wonder.
The way their kiss lingers,
like a spark that knows it left a mark.
The way their touch speaks,
gentle one moment,
full of need the next.
Even their apologies stay with me.
Not big, dramatic ones,
just the quiet kind that says,
“I wish I had more time with you.”
I remember how being with them
feels like rest,
like putting my guard down without even noticing.
And how they’d hand me food
because I forgot to eat.
Or remind me to drink water
because they noticed I didn’t.
How they speak to me with respect
even when they’re tired or rushed.
And the way they keep their promises
and choose to stay
even when it’s hard.
How they listen,
not just to my words,
but to the things I don’t say.
And how they try to fix the mess quietly,
so I don’t have to.
I cherish how when I’m angry,
they don’t fight back.
But just know what to say
to make me laugh through my stubbornness.
They tease me, sure!
But always know when to stop
and simply hold me.
They let me be soft,
even when I’m loud.
And show kindness to strangers
like it costs nothing at all.
They don’t talk much about themselves,
but sometimes,
they give me a glimpse,
just enough to make me feel close.
They work hard,
sometimes too hard,
forgetting to take care of themselves,
but never forgetting me.
And all of that.
The little things,
the quiet gestures,
the way they move through the world,
it stays with me.
And I keep all of it.
Every detail,
every moment,
gently,
like a story.
‘Cause I don’t love people
I memorize them………
