As the warmth of the winter Sun
dispelling winter’s chill.
As a soft kiss upon the forehead
whispering everything is alright.
As the laughter shared with friends.
As the innocent smile of a child.
As a lazy Sunday morning
with nowhere else to be.
As that silent starry night
I wished to never end.
As a beautiful sight
on a lonely day.
As the kindness
a gentle reminder of the good in the world.
As the sound of the river
always soothing my soul.
As the crimson leaves of spring trees
vibrant and bright.
As the crackling fire of a bonfire
burning bright and true.
As the sneaky kiss
that left me breathless.
You were the home
where I could be myself
and still be loved.
My hardest goodbye
the most painful “I love you”
I ever had to say.
You were the warmth
the joy
the peace
I once knew.
And now
the loss
the heartache
the longing
forever etched in me….
